The Day We Come

The price was settled from your photo, so the day itself is short and there is nothing left to negotiate. Here is how it actually goes.

You hear from us twice before we arriveOnce when the crew leaves to come get your stuff, and again when they pull up outside. You are not stuck by a window all morning wondering whether today is the day.

You don’t have to be homeTell us where the stuff is and we handle it. Nobody needs to take a day off work for a couch. If you’d rather be there, be there — plenty of people are, and it changes nothing about the price.

You get a photo before and a photo afterThe crew shoots the spot the way they found it, and again once it is empty. Both photos come straight to you. If you weren’t there, that is how you see the job was done right without taking anyone’s word for it.

We sweep before we leaveEmptied is not the same as clean. The floor gets swept, and that is the space you see in the after photo. If a corner still looks wrong in that picture, say so and we come back to it.

You pay when the work is doneNot before. When the truck is loaded and the space is clear, we send you a payment link and you settle it however you like — there is no method we turn away. The receipt lands on your side and on ours, so there is a record for both of us.

Where Your Stuff Actually Goes

Still usableFurniture, working appliances and household goods go to Rhode Island reuse and donation outlets before anything else is considered.

MetalAppliances, bed frames, exercise equipment and scrap go to a metal recycler. This is the category we divert most of.

ElectronicsTVs, monitors and computers go to e-waste recycling. Rhode Island bans them from regular trash.

Construction debrisWood, drywall and renovation waste go to the RIRRC construction and demolition stream.

Everything elseWhat is genuinely finished goes to the Central Landfill in Johnston, and only that.

What We Can’t Put on the Truck

A junk truck cannot legally carry household hazardous waste. The good news for Rhode Islanders is that you don’t need us for it — the state already takes it, and it costs you nothing.

Anything marked DANGER or POISONThat label means toxic, corrosive or extremely flammable. It goes to Eco-Depot, the state’s free household hazardous waste program, run by Rhode Island Resource Recovery. It is free for RI households and you book an appointment first. They run around nineteen Saturday collections a year at locations around the state.

Oil-based paint, thinners and solventsEco-Depot takes these, along with pesticides, lawn and pool chemicals, and mothballs. Bring them in their original containers and never mix them together.

Propane tanksEco-Depot accepts them empty or full, up to a twenty pound tank.

Fluorescent bulbs and rechargeable batteriesBoth go to Eco-Depot. The twisty CFL bulbs are easier — Home Depot and Lowe’s collect those at every store.

Latex paint is the exceptionWater-based paint is not hazardous waste. Let the can dry out solid and it is safe in your regular trash, or PaintCare drop-off sites take up to five gallons a visit. If the cans are still near full, someone will take them off your hands for free before you throw anything away.

One thing worth knowing about mattresses: we take them, and Rhode Island recycles them at no charge — but only if they are clean and dry. A mattress left out in the rain gets landfilled instead. If yours is in the garage or the basement, leave it there until we arrive.
